Sea World San Diego

Mikaya's 12th Birthday

Mikaya celebrated her birthday with family, and then with friends a few days later. She chose fondue for dinner, and cheesecake with whipped cream for dessert. Mikaya always looks out for her friends and family, and we are thankful for that. She tries her best in all she does. She looks for the positive in any situation, but loves to be around places and people who bring out her best. It has been so wonderful to watch her grow. We love you sweet Mikaya!

Home School-In and Out of the Home

I have loved teaching Logic of English to Miles this year. It is a systematically sound program that teaches spelling analysis, writing, and reading in a fun, but meaningful way. At home, Cade loves to build using anything and everything, from wood blocks, to legos, to magnet blocks. He also tries to learn what Miles is learning, and works on his own skills such as letter recognition, cutting, and tracking skills. Mikaya and Avery work independently for the most part, although I continue to teach Mikaya history. For us, the balance of school at home, along with time at school has been challenging at times, but also very rewarding.

Girls' Flag Football 2019-Classical Academy Middle School

Avery woke up excited about the start of the girls' flag football season that day. She was coming down the stairs that morning and landed wrong on her ankle. She was out the first half of the season, with a somewhat slow recovery. Luckily, she was able to be a full participate by the end. She puts her whole heart into the game, whatever it may be. She is fun to watch because she always puts in her very best effort. Great job Avery!!

Aladdin-Classical Academy-2019

Although sports are Avery and Mikaya's favorite, they have really enjoyed being in one musical each, with their school. Mrs. Grimes, the director, is planning to retire this year, so I convinced Mikaya to be in Mrs. Grimes' last musical, Aladdin. Mrs. Grimes is so humble, and her daughter said that her mom doesn't realized how amazing her shows really are. They are over the top. They were able to use the same "lamp" as Broadway used for Aladdin, which was fun! Mikaya (as well as Avery in Seussical) learned that she could work extremely hard and pull off something extraordinary. What a experience they will always remember!
